“Is she even listening?” I thought as I could hear her type away on the computer. 

I continued on for a few minutes and would stop abruptly, almost as if to test her. 

“Mmhmm” she’d mumble.

It made me second guess myself, throwing me into a tailspin.

“What makes you good at what you do?” she asked.

True to form, I led with the numbers as if to somehow protect the truth. 

Launch numbers, conversion data and inane financial figures flew out of my mouth before I could catch them.

The whole thing fell flat.
