White Hot Truth

“What makes you good at what you do?” she asked.

True to form, I led with the numbers as if to somehow protect the truth.

Launch numbers, conversion data and inane financial figures flew out of my mouth before I could catch them.

The whole thing fell flat.

Was she not impressed by all my accomplishments? Did she even hear what I said?

My inner voice said these 3 words… trust, transparency and truth.

If you listened to episode #71, you know I shared a very vulnerable side of my past

I have a hard time trusting, down to my core, because I’m afraid they too will leave.

Yet, I listened to that voice inside me.

As I opened up about my relationships with clients…

My favorite projects…

What I get out of bringing amazingly ambitious women together…

But more importantly WHY I do what I do.

As Simon Sinek says -

“People don’t buy what you do, they buy why I do it.”

Going one step further:

People don’t relate to you at the surface, but rather at the roots… at the core.

In that moment, I was able to be fully present and get lost in the magic that was my work.

We laughed about the hardships of caring too much.

We basked in the perpetual worry of not being enough.

It allowed me to expose the recent shifts I’ve been making, and how - while confident - it made me doubt and question everything.

I told this stranger about some of my deepest fears… why?

Because I opened up and made room for trust.

I then trusted in my transparency.

And most importantly, I shared my truth.

If you’re struggling to find your path…

If you’re worried that someone can’t handle your truth…

If you don’t quite know what your truth is anymore…

You’re not alone.

Here are my two cents:

Share, and share often.

If you don’t know what to share or how, start small… but start today.

Give us the pleasure of relating to you.

When we bottle up or suppress these feelings, we show up as half the light we really are.

Your current feelings, emotions and struggles create your story, but if you don’t share… we’ll never see that bravery.

You opening up allows us to let our guard down… to share our truth too.

Give us that gift of connection.

Let us share back with you.

But understand that you set the tone.

Lastly, cut yourself some fucking slack.

You can’t come out the other side without trekking through the mud first.

We’re all here on this journey alongside you… figuring it out as we go.

And of course, remember to trust that inner voice.

I hope this resonated with you. If so, share it with someone you feel needs to hear this.

Truth, transparency and trust.

Start today.

I see you. I hear you. I believe in you.
