Walking around the city,
Music in my ears, observing.
Surrounded by zombies.
Texting, calls & selfies.
Very few conversations, not a hug in sight.
Bad news: I could be anywhere.
It's an epidemic.
—
What if something serious happened?
A crisis? A disaster?
These zombies would be my help.
My only rescue, my one chance at life.
Yet, we walk around closed off,
Waiting for disaster to strike before we change.
Before we act.
Before we open up to the world.
Before we have that conversation,
Change careers, say I love you
Or do whatever the F we want to do!
—
The next time you put your ear buds in,
Tune out, wall up or shut down..
Remember, you are:
ONE breath away from a life cut short.
ONE bar stool away from the love of your life.
ONE flight away from lifelong memories.
ONE dinner away from a custody battle.
ONE simple habit away from retiring early.
ONE conversation away from forgiveness & peace.
ONE interview away from authority.
ONE extra cocktail away from a best friend.
ONE secret away from divorce.
ONE sleep away from the best day of your life.
ONE hug away from hope.
ONE random text away from a dream opportunity.
ONE step away from a rescue mission.
ONE morning walk away from a crippling disease.
ONE smile away from serendipity.
ONE decision away from a legacy.
—
We've all heard "Life is precious",
And while it is, of course-
Never forget: LIFE IS NOW.
—
Stop waiting for her to change.
For him to apologize.
For the situation to be different.
For the sun to come out.
For the approval.
—
We have one chance at this.
Make it worth it. Because you're worth it.
And your life depends on it.
