I used to put people into boxes.
I compartmentalized my friends, clients, family, etc.
—
If you fit into the “fun” or “work” or “spiritual” box,
That’s where you stayed.
There was no cross-pollination
Definitely no take-backs or changing once I decided.
—
That was my way of understanding my friends,
Creating structure and organization.. or so I thought.
—
I realized that I was unfairly pre-judging people.
Forcing them to play a small role in my life,
Refusing to explore relationships on a deeper level.
—
It all stemmed from fear.
Fear of rejection, connection, competition, uncertainty.
—
Once I did the work and mastered my mindset,
I cleared those blockages and preconceived notions
Of what these relationships COULD look like.
—
Now, I’m excited by the fact that
Friends can also be clients,
Who can be fun adventurers,
Who can be spiritual,
Who can be active and fit,
Who can be silly friends,
And the list continues.
—
And that’s how I’m choosing to build my business -
With lots of room for OVERFLOW.
—
I actively seek out people who I believe add value across multiple boxes.
The more, the better.
And the stronger our relationship will be.
—
If you’re putting people in boxes,
Not allowing the RIGHT people to take up space in your life…
—
Remember this:
In allowing THEM to play small,
You’re giving yourself permission to play small.
Putting yourself unfairly in a box,
Ignoring your desire to be completely self expressed.
=====
Embrace the overflow.
